This blog was created by Tim Shaffer (nephew of pilot Ralph Vincent Shaffer) to maintain an active interest in the WW2 B-24 bomber “Ginger”, which, after being crippled by flak during a bombing mission over Ludwigshafen Germany on 26 August, 1944, crashed in the village of Schoeneck, France.

Why Am I Doing This?

- With this blog, I wish to direct attention towards the crash of Ginger and the intriguing aftermath. It will function as a central location to publish all documents, witness reports, and anecdotal accounts pertaining to the Ginger episode. It will also hopefully clear up some confusing versions of what happened after the crash. This site will also honor the many people who have spent countless hours and funds researching that aftermath and related accounts. Finally, I wish to continue to pursue the fate of the missing pilot, my uncle Vincent Shaffer.
